My practice specializes in treating individuals, couples and families, and through years of experience, I’m confident that no problem is too great to overcome. Through
therapy, there is always a way to address the issues you face and learn coping strategies to help you both right now and in the future.

We all embark on the journey of life at the same starting point. We travel down the road before us, trying to carve out a path that will lead us to the kind of life that will bring us joy. However, there are times when that path leads us off the course of happiness and fulfillment, and into some dark corners. Whether you’re stuck in the woods of anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide and self-harm, relationship issues, or perfectionism, it is possible to get out of the dark places and back into the sun. I know it feels daunting now, but that is why you are here.

Here at DisruptedKC, I will work with you to help you develop the strategies you need to get back on the path that leads to happiness and success. Together, we will work to address the issues you are facing and come through on the other side with a new way of thinking, and confidently take on a new direction in life.

Together, we will work closely to analyze what struggles you are facing and their underlying causes and try to change the behavior and thought patterns that are keeping you from being the person you want to be.

Individual Psychotherapy: Individual psychotherapy is a traditional type of therapy that is typically one-on-one between a psychotherapist and a client. Psychotherapy, or counseling, allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained mental health professional, who is guided by a number of varied theoretical principles and approaches. As a therapist I believe it is extremely important to co-create a treatment plan with you in order to ensure that identified problems are addressed in a timely fashion. Depending on the identified needs, I utilize a wide range of directive or less directive ways of helping you. Most psychotherapists meet weekly with clients, while others may meet more frequently. Most psychotherapy occurs in a mental health professional’s office while some contemporary forms are provided on-line and/or in the home. Individual therapy can be provided to adults, teenagers, and young children.

Couples Counseling: During couples counseling I assist couples to communicate better, manage challenges, develop successful conflict management, and to enhance emotional connection and satisfaction.

Family Therapy: Sometimes family therapy can be extremely beneficial. Family therapy emphasizes family relationships, interactional patterns, and reciprocity among all family members. I will help you identify ways in which family members are affected by and affect one another. Problems are viewed within a strengths-based, systemic model. Family play therapy is also offered to blend talk and expressive therapies, provide novelty, and ignite family energy.
